2021 CO-FMA Fire Pump Maintenance Class

Location: Aims Community College Windsor Campus

Dates: August 3 – 62021

Times: 8:00am – 5:00pm

  • To add to the learner’s basic skill set the following:
  • Knowledge of pump theory and operation.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting procedures.
  • Techniques used for regular maintenance and repairs of fire pump and accessories.
  • Techniques used for pump repair and overhaul.
  • Knowledge of pump service testing
  • Knowledge of NFPA Standards related to the above listed items
There will be classroom and hands on practical each day.

Our goal is to provide information based on what the students will be likely doing the greater percentage of the time maintaining fire pumps for their departments.

Day 1) Definitions, Pump Theory and Operations, pump test pit test demonstration

Day 2) Standard maintenance techniques, reasons for doing annual service fire pump testing.

Day 3) Part 1:  Pump testing as needed.

Part 2:  Tear Down pumps and rebuild them (with the same parts).  We will also split the group and have a group working on repairing a pump that needs help drafting.

Remove and rebuild as needed valves and drains.

Day 4) Complete work as necessary; Complete classroom as needed. Any projects not completed.

Student Equipment needed: Please bring work attire as required for your work. Please bring hard hat, work gloves, protective footwear, hearing protection and sunscreen.
